Just took the kids to see Monsters Inc, which was the best fun I've had for a while. I also enjoyed watching the kids working out how to get from the Barbican car park to the cinema (cinema 2, up on the 4th floor) and back, and how to deal with the eccentric arrangements for the sale of comestibles.

I hate to tell you how embarrassed I was this morning - two of the teachers at school organised a generation game assembly and I foolishly volunteered to take up the "chance of a lifetime" and be a humiliated parent. My task was to draw cartoon characters for my team to guess. Mickey Mouse, Dumbo and Marge Simpson have clear distinguishing features, but I'm afraid my attempt at Shrek was truly pathetic. I deserved to lose, especially as they even thought my Dumbo was Babar.
